Some churches use it on
All Saints Day, as an alternative to the more-traditional For all the Saints, because it is set to a well known folk-tune. In some places, it is used for funerals.
It was written by by Scottish hymn-writer and Church of Scotland
minister John L Bell (b 1949) and youth minister, liturgist, writer,
artist, musician Graham Maule (1958-2019) - who are/were both members of the
Iona Community - and first published in 1996.

- O WALY WALY - composer is unknown, described as traditional English / Scottish / Irish - depending on who you ask. This is also used for several other hymns including Lord Make me an Instrument of Peace and To Do Your Will
- WELLS HOUSE by English composer David Iliff (1939-2024)
- OLD HUNDREDTH attributed to Louis Bourgeois (1551) - the common tune for All People that on Earth do Dwell
- An unnamed tune set as a choral arrangement by composer Bob Moore.
