Come and Go with Me to my Father's House

This is an (Afro?) American gospel / blues style hymn about going to heaven.

It has been adapted across many countries and cultures, and performed in many different arrangements.    The original author are unknown, and most sources regard the underlying words and melody as being public domain.   It was definitely written prior to 1934.

It has versions both as a children's song (as shown below), and also as a more free-format spiritual based on the underlying song - it is difficult to state the lyrics / form, as these may very with performances.

With meter 10.10.10.5, it is set to a an unnamed gospel-style tune.

It was included in the publication More Songs of the Spirit - Songs and Hymns of Renewal, Volume 2 by Kevin Mayhew Ltd, England.

Many of the early recordings have "there is peace, peace, peace" as the last line, while later publications often change this to "there is joy, joy, joy".

Lyrics

Come and go with me to my Father's house,
To my Father's house, to my Father's house.
Come and go with me to my Father's house;
There is joy, joy, joy!

Peace and love abide in my Father's house,
In my Father's house, in my Father's house.
Peace and love abide in my Father's house;
There is joy, joy, joy!

There is room for all, in my Father's house,
There is room for all, in my Father's house.
There is room for all, in my Father's house;
There is joy, joy, joy!

No more dyin' there, in my Father's house,
In my Father's house, in my Father's house.
No more dyin' there, in my Father's house;
There is joy, joy, joy!

Sweet communion there, in my Father's house,
In my Father's house, in my Father's house.
Sweet communion there in my Father's house;
There is joy, joy, joy!
