Freely Freely

This worship song about forgiveness and mission was written by American contemporary Christian music pioneer songwriter and teacher Carol Owens (b 1931), inspired by Jesus instructions in Matthew 10:8 (ref).

It was first published in 1972 and was used in the 1973  musical "Come Together" written by Carol and Jimmy Owens and initially published by Bud John Songs,

With meter 9.9.9.9 with refrain, the song is set to an unnamed tune, also by Owens. This has a 3/4 time signature. Originally it was published in the key of Eb.   In the key of D, the first few notes are DE F E D D_ G FE, with corresponding chords D / Bm / Em.

God forgave my sin in Jesus' name, I've been born again in Jesus' name, And in Jesus' name I come to you To share his love as he told me to. Chorus: He said, "Freely, freely you have received, Freely, freely give Go in my name and because you believe others will know that I live. 2 All power in given in Jesus' name, In earth and heaven in Jesus name, And in Jesus name I come to you To share his love as he told us to. 3 God gives us life in Jesus’ name; He lives in us in Jesus’ name, and in Jesus’ name I come to you to share His peace as He told me to.
