My Help Shall Come

Jamison Valley in Sydney's Blue Mountains - My help shall come from the Lord who made the heavens, I will lift my eyes to the mountains, My hope is the Lord. Sing to the Lord, Loud be your song, All peoples praise our God, Whose love is fruitful and strong. Turn to the Lord, give God your cares, God's spirit in your heart Knows every hope and prayer. Come, eat the bread given for you, Drink my Wine and live in me: I will make my home in you
This ballad-style hymn by Australian Roman Catholic priest and composer Fr Frank Andersen MSC was originally published by Chevalier Publications in the "Everything I Possess" collection (which was renamed Galilee Song).  It is also included in the collection Scripture in Song - The Music of Frank Andersen MSC, which is still available.   Both of these include sheet music for the hymn.

It is included on the Galilee Song recording, but at the time of writing there are no examples available on Youtube.

The text is based on Psalm 120:1-2 - and this means there a great many other songs with the same or very similar titles.

The tune was written by Fr Andersen: It has a 6/4 time signature, and in the key of G the first few notes are D_ D E D_ D DD E_ G F_A G D_, with accompanying chords G / D / G / G7 / D / G.

Chorus:
My help shall come from the Lord who made the heavens,
I will lift my eyes to the mountains,
My hope is the Lord.

Sing to the Lord, Loud be your song,
All peoples praise our God,
Whose love is fruitful and strong.

God's spirit in your heart
Knows every hope and prayer.

Come, eat the bread given for you,
Drink my Wine and live in me:
I will make my home in you
