This is a hymn of petition for closeness with God, at night and in times of
difficulty.
It is a more-religious variation of "All Through the Night", a traditional
Welch lullaby which was translated to English and published in 1914.
The author is unknown: It was found, unattributed, in a hymn-book
published by the Irish Redemptorist Fathers. If you have any
information about it, please leave a message in the Comments box near the
bottom of the page.
With meter 84 84 88 84, it is set to the traditional Welch tune, AR HYD Y NOS - composer unknown, c 1784.

Lyrics
Father in your love enfold us,All thro' the night.
Everlasting arms enfold us,
All thro' the night.
Soothe all bodies ill and aching,
Comfort those whose hearts are breaking,
Mind us all, asleep or waking,
All thro' the night.
Cross of Jesus, stand above us,
All thro' the night.
Sheltering tree of him who loves us,
All thro' the night.
Mother Mary, stand beside us,
Let no harm or sin betide us,
Nor no lack of love divide us,
All thro' the night.
