A recording of the song was originally released in 1969 by Sacred Heart Publications, England. It was then included in Mayhew-McCrimmon's Sing a New Song to the Lord, 1970. Later it was included in Hymns Old and New for the Irish Church published in 1977, and McCrimmon's Celebration Hymnal for Everyone 2012 edition, which is still available today.
The hymn is set to a tune called CARITAS by Eric Welch. This has a 2/2 time signature. In the key of F, the first few notes are C C F EF G F E
