Jesus Rose Again - Landry

This children's hymn about resurrection was written by American musician, songwriter and at-the-time Roman Catholic priest Carey Landry (b 1944). It is based on John 11:26 and John 20:15.

The song was included in the Companion on the Journey album, and later in the Collected Works of Carey Landry (North American Liturgy Resources, 198  - ref). It was later included in the "Hi God 2" collection of children's music - the the sheet music for this is still available from OCP.

It is set to an unnamed tune, also by Landry. This has a 4/4 time signature. In the key of Eb, the first few notes of the melody are G GA B AG F F_ A AB c B B G with accompanying chords Eb / Bb / Ab / Eb. The tune for each of the three verses is different, and so the song is best arranged for cantor and congregation.

For Jesus rose again, Jesus rose again,
Death had no power over Him.

1 This is the day that the Lord has made
Let us rejoice and be glad.
This is the day! This is the day!
Let us rejoice and be glad!

Chorus:
For Jesus rose again, Jesus rose again,
Death had no power over Him.
And we will rise again,we will rise again,
If we believe in Him.

2 Are you looking for Jesus?
He is risen as He said.
Look for Him among the living;
Do not look among the dead.

3 This is the triumph of Jesus
The victory of live over death!
The victory of light, the victory of hope
Promise of everlasting live.
