Follow Me to the Sea - Repp

This is a folk-style hymn about discipleship.

It was written by American social justice advocate and at-one-time Roman Catholic seminarian, Ray Repp (1942-2020), and included in an album, By Love Are We All Bound, which he released in 1981 (ref), and later in the collection The Best of Ray Repp volume 2.

It is set to an unnamed tune, also by Repp.   No published sheet music has been located - although more recent performances of the song suggest that it is available somewhere.

Chorus:
Follow me to the sea
Where I first called your name.
We didn't know each other so
But I called and you came.
Remember we promised
Our love wouldn't end.
We'd gather all people
And love them as friends.
My spirit will be with you
To light up your way
I love you what more more can I say.

1 Since the dawn of all time that I know
Your love would be with me and always be shown
In in the love and the care you continue to give
To all of my people who live

2 Even when you have doubt or have fear
Remember love I you and know I am near.
I'd be willing to give up my life once again,
To show you that I am your friend.
