A Hymn to St Padre Pio (Let's sing a new song) - Quinn

This is a country-music style ballad about Saint Padre Pio.

It was written by Irish teacher and singer / songwriter and guitarist Alex Quinn.

The song is set to an unnamed tune written by Quinn. This has a 3/4 (waltz) time signature. No sources of sheet music have been located.

The chorus includes the phrase "our amico":  from the Italian word meaning "friend".

Lyrics

The lyrics are copyright so cannot be reproduced here. But they are currently available on this website. A rough outline is:

1 Let's sing a new song to start each new day,
Your sins give to Jesus, let him wash them away.
Ask your little angel to watch over you,
Send your angel to Padre, he can't refuse you.

Chorus:
St Padre Pio, our saint, our amico,
We've sent you our angels, they collected our tears.
St Padre Pio, our saint, our amico,
Please pass our intentions to the hands of Our Lord.

2 St Padre Pio, like St Francis had done,
He suffered the five wounds of God's only son.
His devotion to Mary was his Rosaries each day,
To the Sweet Heart of Jesus he always would pray.
