It was written by English classical pianist, Methodist minister and folk-singer Peter D (David) Smith (b 1938). It was composed in 1975, when he was teaching a contemporary worship course for the Iona Community (ref).
The song was first published in 1978, and today copyright is managed by Stainer & Bell Ltd. and Methodist Church (OK) Division of Education and Youth (admin. by Hope Publishing Co.)
With meter 11.6.11.5, it is set to an unnamed tune, also by Smith. This has a 3/8 time signature, and a call-and-response structure. In the key of F, the first few notes of the melody are C FFG AGA Bcd c_ with accompanying chords F / C / F Bb / C
Sheet music is available in a number of Methodist hymnals, and from Hope Publishing (link below). No commercial recordings have been found.

Lyrics
The lyrics are copyright so cannot be reproduced here. But they are currently available on this website. A rough outline is:1 When Jesus the healer passed through Galilee ...
2 A paralyzed man was ...
Heal us, heal us today!
...
Heal us, Lord Jesus!
3 The death of his daughter caused Jairus to weep....
4 When blind Bartimaeus cried out to the Lord ....
5 The lepers were healed and the demons cast out ....
6 The twelve were commissioned and sent out in twos ...
7 There's still so much sickness and suffering today ....
