It was written by Australia Roman Catholic (Franciscan Missionary of Mary) religious sister, Irene O'Connor FMM (ref). It was originally released under the pseudonym Myriam Frances.
It was written in the 1960s while she was working as a teacher in Singapore, and first recorded on an EP, Rhythm to the Lord, which was released there by Phillips in 1966. Later the song was included on Sing a Song to the Lord, an LP (ref), which was recorded and released by Phillips in Australia in 1973.
The catalogue of the National Library of Australia says that a 27-page song book was produced in the 1970s, which presumably included this and all other tracks from Sing to the Lord. No current sources of this have been found.
