O Immaculate Heart of Mary

This is a contemporary-style hymn about the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The verses are based on Psalm 83 (84).

It was written by American Roman Catholic musician, former rock-performer then long-time Franciscan priest / monk, and later diocesan hermit, Maximilian Mary Dean - and was the first song written when he became a Franciscan.

It is set to an unnamed tune, also by Dean. No published sheet music has been located.

Chorus:
Immaculate Heart of Mary, immerse me in the Trinity.
Deepen my love for the Father, Son and Spirit

1.  How lovely thou art Mother Mary!
True dwelling place of the Lord of Hosts.
My soul longs and faints for the courts of the Lord,
In the Heart has my heart rejoiced in the Living God.

2.  The sparrow has found herself a home;
The swallow a nest for her little ones.
The altars of God, the Immaculate Heart!
Blessed are they that dwell in this house of the living God.

3.  O blessing to dwell in thy Pure Heart,
To praise the Good God in endless joy.
Send divine grace to dispose our hearts,
To ascend by steps from this valley of tears.

4.  Attend to our prayer Lord God of Hosts,
Through Mary's Heart give ear O God.
Behold in us the face of Thy Christ!
One day in Thy courts transcends a thousand elsewhere.
