Come and Let us go Up (to the mountain of the Lord) - Micah

The original author and composer of this worship chorus are unknown. The words are based on Micah 4:2.

The song was included in the book Scripture in Song - Songs of Praise, published in New Zealand in 1979.

It appears to be very similar to another song, based on Isaiah 2:3-4 released by Bill and Mary Ann Quigley in 1981 under the Universal Music - Brentwood Benson Publishing label - although no sheet music has been found for the latter, so this cannot be definitely confirmed.

It may also have been included as number 157 in an Australian publication called Songs of God's People (ref) - which may be the same as this booklet produced by a liturgical commission in Melbourne, Australia in 1974. (This is not the same as another book with the same title published by Oxford University Press in 1988.)

This setting of the text is very different from a song with the same title by Paul Wilbur, which is based on a Jewish tune.

Lyrics

Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord unto the house of our God,
Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord unto the house of our God.
And he will teach us of his ways,
And we shall walk in his paths,
And the law shall go forth out of Zion
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
