Give Thanks and Remember

This hymn about Eucharist, which can also be used at Thanksgiving, was written by American composer, at that time Roman Catholic priest, and and later children's educator Jack Miffleton (b TBA).

The song was included in his 1975 album From Earthenware Jars, and sheet music is still available today from GIA Publications.

Only one on-line example of the song has been found - it is shown below, although the quality of the audio recording isn't great.  If you know where to find a better recording, please leave a message in the Comments box near the bottom of the page.

The unnamed tune was also written by Miffleton.   It has a 3/4 time signature, and in the key of Dm the first few notes of the melody are A A_ A_ G F D__  with accompanying chords F / A / Dm.

Chorus
Give thanks and remember;
Here is a living sign:
That one man's dying and rising
becomes our bread and wine.

1. As long as we are God's people ...

2. As long as we live for each other ...

3. God tends the pines and the sparrows ...

Give thanks and remember; Here is a living sign: That one man's dying and rising becomes our bread and wine. 1. As long as we are God's people And earth has fruit to give So long will God be our Father; Thank God for all that lives. 2. As long as we live for each other, Planting the words of the Son, So long will God be our Father; Thank God for all he's done. 3. God tends the pines and the sparrows, And knows us and all our ways, And God is the source of our life and love; Thank God with simple praise.
