Something that we have Seen - Andersen

This folk-style hymn by Australian Roman Catholic priest and composer Fr Frank Andersen MSC was originally published by Chevalier Publications in the "Everything I Possess" collection (which was renamed Galilee Song).  It is also included in the Scripture in Song - The Music of Frank Andersen MSC collection, which is still available.   Both of these include sheet music for the hymn.

The song is included on the Gallilee Song recording, but at the time of writing there are no examples available on Youtube.

The unnamed tune was written by Fr Andersen: It has a 4/4 time signature, and in the key of A the first few notes are CDE E D D_ EFE E_, with accompanying chords A / D / Bm7  / E / A.

A cross, with a beam of light at the centre, arising from mist-shrouded hills: Something that we have seen with our own eyes; Something that we have watched and touched with our hands. What we have seen and heard, we give to you, So that you too may be deep in our God, so that you too may be deep in our God.1 This is what we have heard from God, And the message we announce to you; God is light, truly light, There can be no darkness in God. 2 We place our faith in what we know, In the love God has towards ourselves. God is love, and God lives In anyone who lives in love.

Lyrics

Chorus:
Something that we have seen with our own eyes;
Something that we have watched and touched with our hands.
What we have seen and heard, we give to you,
So that you too may be deep in our God,
so that you too may be deep in our God.

1 This is what we have heard from God,
And the message we announce to you;
God is light, truly light,
There can be no darkness in God.

2 We place our faith in what we know,
In the love God has towards ourselves.
God is love, and God lives
In anyone who lives in love.
