All of my Life / Bless the Lord O my Soul

The author and composer of this praise hymn are unknown:  In 2017, a visitor to this website has said that they learned at school over 40 years ago from Irish nuns.

It is popular in Africa, where it has been included in a number of hymn-books including the Nigerian Catholic Hymn Book. It is also in the Let us Celebrate hymn book, which credits the song to Sister Mary Grace (details unknown).

It may have been included in a recording and accompanying music book made in Australia in the 19(70's?) - the title and likely genre matches, but I have not been able to confirm if the content is the same (ref).

If you know anymore about this song, or have sheet music for it, please leave a message in the Comments box near the bottom of the page.

Lyrics

Refrain:
All of my life, I will praise the living God,
My heart full of joy,
I will bless his holy name.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
And never forget his gifts.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
He pardons all our sins.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
He saves us from all harm.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
He fills our life with good.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
He keeps us ever young.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
His mercy never ends.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
His kindness never ends.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
His promises he keeps.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
He died to bring us life.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
He is the Bread of Life.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
In him we find all love.

  2. The spirit of thanksgiving is very contagious. Woke up this morning too, and while trying to embrace this Sunday morning, this song came to mind. I googled it and voila. It's a good prayer song to start this beautiful day, despite what's happening around or what's not. Dates almost forty years too.
