Many Times I have Turned (Jesus came to bring us mercy)

This song about repentance, mercy and new beginnings was written by American Roman Catholic priest, teacher, playwright, folk-composer and author Willard F Jabusch (1930-2018).

It is included on his CD "What A Joy", which is still available from OCP Publications - although it seems that sheet music is not available from them.

CCLI currently list the copyright as owned by Jabusch himself (ref).

It was published in the 20th Century Folk Hymnal Volume 2 - this is no longer in print, and 2nd-hand copies may be the best way of obtaining the sheet music.

Many times I have turned from the way of the Lord,
Many times I have chosen the darkness.
In the light of the day, when the shadows are gone,
All I see is my sin in it’s darkness.

Jesus came to bring us mercy.
Jesus came to bring us Life again.
He Loves us (3)

I confess I have sinned in the sight of the Lord,
Through my pride, through my malice and weakness.
I've rejected the promise that comes from the Cross,
Where the Lord hung above us in meekness.

With a word, with a deed, with a failure to act,
With a thought that was evil and hateful.
I confess to You brothers and sisters of mine,
I have sinned and been proven ungrateful.

Through my fault, through my fault, through my serious fault,
I confess to You Lord all my sinning.
But look down on me Lord, grant Your pardon and Peace -
With help I've a new life beginning.
