Prepare ye the Way of the Lord / I Hear a Sound Coming from the Mountain

This is a short hymn which is particularly suitable for the season of Advent.

It was written by Himmie Gustafson and first published in 1976 - possibly on the LP recording "The Kingdom Sound" (ref).

Sheet music was provided in the book Songs of the Kingdom - though this is now out of print.

The tune has a cut time signature. In the key of D the first few notes are D A, D E.

It is not the same as a recent song with the same title by Donna Guenther, which starts "I hear a sound coming from the mountain, I hear a sound like a trumpet in the distance, Take a look around the season's changing ... "

Light coming from the mountains: 1 I hear a sound coming from the mountain, I hear it louder each day. I hear a sound coming from the mountain, And it says prepare ye the way. Chorus Prepare ye the way, Prepare ye the way, Prepare ye the way, Of the Lord. 2 I see the King standing on the mountain, I see Him clearer each day. I see the King standing on the mountain, And He says prepare ye the way.
