With meter 7.7.6.6, it is set to a Scots Gaelic folk tune ERISKAY LOVE LILT, which was arranged by the compilers of the 1998 hymnal "Common Ground". This has a 3/4 or 6/8 time signature. In the key of E, the first few notes are EG B cBG E_.
It is not the same as Patrick Appleford's hymn The Quest, which starts "Lord of life you give us all our days" (ref).
