O Queen Yes we Call on You

This is a hymn of devotion to Mary.  It was requested by a visitor to this website, and located with prayers for the Novena to the Mother of Perpetual help, and in one YouTube video, titled "O Queen Yes we Call on You".

The author and composer of this are unknown.

The wording suggests that it was written by a person who is not a native English speaker - and the ideas expressed mean that it is possibly not from a country where there is a female monarch.

If you have any further information about the song (eg who wrote it, who composed the tune, where to get sheet music), please leave a message in the Comments box at the bottom of the page.

Lyrics

Chorus:
O Queen, yes we call you,
We belong to you.
Reign over us and guide us,
Our Queen, our Queen.
Be to us the Mother
Who hears all our prayers,
Who pardons and consoles us
Our Queen, our Queen

1.    You are our own dear Mother,
Take these our humble prayers;
Offer them to your Jesus,
From your children so dear.

2.  O guard us Virgin, purest
Of all hearts, the most mild;
Keep our hearts strong yet supple,
And our souls undefiled.

3  Tell to all those who suffer
Or hurt in any way,
How burdened are the hopeless
Now free are those who hope.

4. At the day's end we're weary,
Our strength begins to fade;
Make then our hearts more generous
With our love, purer made.
