Alpha and Omega

Jesus with his Sacred Heart exposed. He is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end; He's behind me, He's before me, He's ever my friend Whatever I do, wherever I go, Jesus is my source and my goal. 2 You are Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, You're behind me, you're before me, You're ever my friend. Whatever I do, wherever I go, You are my source and my goal.
This children's song about Jesus was written by (presumably American) children's religious song-writers Ane Warner-Weber and Sherry Saunders-Powell.  (Possibly one wrote the tune, and one the music - this has not been confirmed.)

It was first released in 1977 by Candle Company Music; Sparrow Song, an album "To the Chief Musician" (ref).   Today copyright is owned by Universal Music – Brentwood Benson Songs. It was published in some song-bonks when it was first published, including Scripture in Song 2 - Songs of the Kingdom, 1981, New Zealand.    But no in-print sources of sheet music have been found.

The song is set to an unnamed tune, with a 4/4 time signature. In the key of C, the first few notes are E F G G EG G G_ DEFF DE F_  with accompanying chords C / A7 / Dm / G.

Lyrics

The lyrics are copyright so cannot be reproduced here. But they are currently available on this website. A rough outline is:
He is Alpha and Omega
The beginning and the end
He's behind me, He's before me
He's ever my friend
Whatever I do, wherever I go
Jesus is my source and my goal.

You are Alpha and Omega
The beginning and the end
You're behind me, you're before me
You're ever my friend
Whatever I do, wherever I go
You are my source and my goal.

  1. I have the words and the chords from many years ago but the melody escapes me. So want to hear the tune again. Will ask Jesus to bring it to mind.
