Majesty (worship his majesty) - Hayford

This is a short worship chorus about Jesus' kingship.  It is based on Ephesians 2:1-6.

It was written by American Pentecostal minister/pastor, song-writer and university chancellor Jack W Hayford (b 1934), originally published by Rockford Music, and is now distributed by New Spring.

The first parts of the song were written when Hayford and his wife visited England in 1977, touring sites with historic significance to the English monarchy:  Hayford linked the symbols and images seen at these sites to the ideas of kingship which Jesus taught (ref).

Since the first publication in 1981, the song spread rapidly across denominational boundaries: Commentators have suggested that this is because images of royalty / monarchy are main way that some faith traditions visualise God and Jesus Christ - even in countries where monarchy has never been part of the political system.

Hymn-books which the song has been published in include:
and likely many other books used in American Pentecostal churches.

The unnamed tune, also by Hayford, has a 4/4 time signature. In the key of C, the first few notes are  c B B_  ccc cc_ A with accompanying chords   C  --  Dm  --  C/E  --  F.

Statue of Chris the King against a blue sky, topped with a crown. Majesty, worship his majesty; unto Jesus be all glory, honour, and praise. Majesty, kingdom authority, flow from his throne unto his own, his anthem raise. So exalt, lift up on high the name of Jesus. Magnify, come glorify Christ Jesus, the King. Majesty, worship his majesty, Jesus who died, now glorified, King of all kings.
