Refiner's Fire

This is a hymn requesting God's healing and purification.  The lyrics appear to be based on Malachi 3:1-4.

It was written by Canadian Christian singer-songwriter and evangelical (at-the-time Vineyard Churches) worship leader, Brian Doerksen (pronounced "durkson").

The song was first published in 1990 by Mercy / Vineyard Publications, and sheet music is till in print.

It is set to an unnamed tune, also by Doerksen. This has a 4/4 time signature. In the key of E, the first few notes are G BF GE_ E F G A A_ with accompanying chords E / B /

Purify my heart,
let me be as gold and precious silver.
Purify my heart,
let me be as gold, pure gold.

(Chorus)
Refiner's fire,
my heart's one desire
is to be holy;
set apart for You, Lord.
I choose to be holy;
set apart for You, my Master,
ready to do Your will.

Purify my heart,
cleanse me from within
and make me holy.
Purify my heart,
cleanse me from my sin, deep within.
