Take Christ to the World

This is a hymn of commission for ministry.

It was written by English Roman Catholic organist, music director and composer Paul Inwoood (b 1947), and first published through the St Thomas Moore group by USA-based OCP Publication, in 1987.   It doesn't appear to have been widely published since then, though it was included in the end edition of the American Journeysongs, and sheet music is still available from OCP (link below).

The hymn is set to an unnamed tune, also by Inwood. This has a 2/2 time signature. In the key of C, the first few notes of the chorus are A c BA G_ A G F E F_ with accompanying chords F / Dm7 / Em / Am / Dm.

Lyrics

The lyrics are copyright so cannot be reproduced here. But they are currently available on this website. A rough outline is:
Chorus:
Take Christ to the world, celebrate our faith, manifest his love to all:
Take Christ to the world, show that we are his in the way we live.

1 We are the body of Christ made incarnate in this time and place ...

2 When we gather together to pray in his holy name ...

3 We are called to be hearers and bearers of the word of Christ ...

4 When we offer ourselves to join more completely in his life ...

5 Going forth, we can be for the world living witnesses of love...

Final chorus:
Take Christ to the world, celebrate our faith, dedicate our lives to him:
Take Christ to the world, show that we are his in the way we live.

Take Christ to the world, celebrate our faith, manifest his love to all:
Take Christ to the world, show that we are his in the way we live.

1 We are the body of Christ made incarnate in this time and place.
Let us open our selves to be truly pathways of his grace.

2 When we gather together to pray in his holy name,
he is our strength and the song on our lips, he is present in our midst.

3 We are called to be hearers and bearers of the word of Christ:
may it flourish and grow in our hearts bringing others to his light.

4 When we offer ourselves to join more completely in his life,
we are the altar, we are the meal, we become his sacrifice.

5 Going forth, we can be for the world living witnesses of love
in our service to all those we meet as we journey on in faith.

Final chorus:
Take Christ to the world, celebrate our faith, dedicate our lives to him:
Take Christ to the world, show that we are his in the way we live.
