The Lord is my Shepherd - Boniwell

This is a setting of the 23rd Psalm

It was written by Australian teacher and singer-songwriter Brian Boniwell (contact details here), and first published in 1978, in a collection called "The Lord Delights" by Australian Carmelite Paul Gurr, released by Spectrum Publications. Later it was included in "People of the Resurrection", a CD and songbook collection which was self-published by Boniwell in 1998.  The range of recordings on YouTube show it has been used well beyond Australia.

The song is set to an unnamed tune, also by Boniwell. This has a 3/4 time signature. In the key of D, the first few notes of the verse are A, F G A AE E_ A, D E F FC C_ with accompanying chords D / A / Bm / F#m

The lyrics are copyright so cannot be reproduced here. But they are currently available on this website.  A rough outline is:
1    The Lord is my shepherd, and I want to follow ....
Chorus:
I want to go to meet him there, to lay myself down in his love.

The Lord is my shepherd, and I want to follow,
wherever he leads me, wherever he goes.

2  And while on the journey to where we are going ...

KEEP IN CASE ORIGINAL IS REMOVED, BUT DO NOT DISPLAY 1   The Lord is my shepherd,
and I want to follow,
wherever he leads me,
wherever he goes.
Over the mountains,
the waters and by-ways,
valleys and highways
he’s waiting for me.

Chorus:
I want to go to meet him there,
to lay myself down in his love.
The Lord is my shepherd,
and I want to follow,
wherever he leads me,
wherever he goes.

2   And while on the journey  to where we are going,
he promised to be there
to help us along.
And over the mountains
we’ll walk on together,
to know all the wonders he’s given to me.
