Of my Hands - Repp

This offertory hymn was written by American social justice advocate and at-the-time Roman Catholic seminarian, Ray Repp (1942-2020).

It was included in the recorded Mass for Young Americans released by Friends of English in the Liturgy (FEL), and in the Hymnal for Young Christians volume 2, 1966.  It was also included in the first edition of the Canadian Catholic Book of Worship (1972), but not in the 2nd edition.  No in-print sources of sheet music have been located - it appears that the only options are second hand copies of these books.

The original has a chorus with three verses - but the words of the chorus change each time it is sung, rotating between "Of my hands", "Of my mind", "Of my heart", "Of my life".   This approach was not widely followed, and most uses just have "Of my hands".   However  it appears that some churches are using the chorus as a complete worship-song, with each of the variations as a separate verse.
The song is set to an unnamed tune, also by Repp. This has a Common (4/4)  time signature. In the key of Gm, the first few notes are G G G G F_ F G E_ FG C_

Lyrics

The lyrics are copyright so cannot be reproduced here. But they are currently available on this website. A rough outline is:
Of my hands I give to you, O Lord,
Of my hands I give to you.
I give to you what you gave to me,
Of my hands I give to you.

1  You led us out of darkness
When we knew not where to go.
You asked us then to follow you
And we said "No".

2  You suffered for the sake of men
That we might live with you.
Oh may we show our gratefulness
In what we say and do.
