It was written by American, Roman Catholic and at-the-time Glenmary Home Mission sister, Germaine Habjan (1943 - c2018 ref and ref and ref) and included on her Folk-Mass album, Songs of Salvation, which was released in 1965.

After her convent was dissolved, Sr Germaine later married and became Germaine Kramlinger. Sheet music for the song, published under this name is still available - see link below.
