It was recorded by Australian Carmelite friar Paul Gurr OCarm in the "Come as You Are" collection which was released by Spectrum Publications in 1986. This recording (originally on cassette tape) and was accompanied by a printed music-book (ref), which is now out-of-print. In it, the song (words and/or music) are attributed to Peter Gagen. Information about Peter Gagen has not been located: He may or may not be Australian, Brisbane-based Roman Catholic teacher, sometime-religious brother and later lay pastoral worker (1936-2022) - ref. The song was later included in Gurr's "Come as you Are" collection.

Lyrics
The lyrics are copyright so cannot be reproduced here. But they are currently available on this website. A rough outline is:Chorus
My soul praises God my Lord, and my heart exults in Him,
For he looks upon my life, and He loves its lowliness.
1 Sing to God a song of love, sing to Yahweh all the earth.
Sing a song to the Lord our God, and bless his holy name.
2. Yahweh made the earth and heav’ns and with Him is splendour and might:
Let us all pay tribute to Him, and bless his holy name.
3.Let the earth and skies proclaim, let the fields and seas shout for joy:
Let all men look to the Lord our God, and bless His holy name.
