Be Exalted O God (I will give thanks to you)

This is a short praise chorus, exalting God. The words are based on Psalm 57:9-11 "I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. For your steadfast love is great to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth!"

It was written by New Zealand evangelical convert (ref) Bible College student, painting contractor, worship leader and songwriter, Brent Sinclair Chambers (b 1948), and first published by Scripture in Song in New Zealand in 1977.

The song was included in a recording released by Harvestime, Songs of Triumph - Worship from Dales Bible Week 1979 (source).

It is set to an unnamed tune, also by Chambers. This has a 4/4 time signature. In the key of Bb, the first few notes of the melody are B,C, D_ E E D_ DE F F GG GF F_ with accompanying chords Bb / Eb / Bb / Eb / Bb / Dmin.
