O Praise The Name (Anástasis) - I cast my mind to Calvary

This is a worship-style hymn about Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection.   The alternative title, Anástasis, is a Greek word:  Literally it means standing anew - meaning the resurrection.

It was written by:
  • Northern Irish born and raised, then at-the-tine Australian immigrant, Benjamin Hastings (b 1991)
  • Hillsong Australia worship leader, Dean Ussher (details TBA) and
  • At-the-time Hillsong Australia worship leader and songwriter, Marty Sampson (b 1979).

The song was first released in 2015 by Hillsong Music Publishing on their album “Open Heaven/River Wild”.

It is set to an unnamed tune which has a 4/4 time signature. In the key of C, the first few notes of the melody are CEG G GAG E GAc c_

Lyrics

The lyrics are copyright so cannot be reproduced here. But they are currently available on this website. A rough outline is:
1  I cast my mind to Calvary where Jesus bled and died for me ...

2  His body bound and drenched in tears ...

Chorus:
O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God.

3  Then on the third at break of dawn ...

4  He shall return in robes of white ...

KEEP IN CASE ORIGINAL IS REMOVED, BUT DO NOT DISPLAY I cast my mind to Calvary
Where Jesus bled and died for me.
I see His wounds, His hands, His feet.
My Saviour on that cursed tree.

His body bound and drenched in tears
They laid Him down in Joseph's tomb.
The entrance sealed by heavy stone
Messiah still and all alone.

Chorus:
O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God.

Then on the third at break of dawn,
The Son of heaven rose again.
O trampled death where is your sting?
The angels roar for Christ the King.

He shall return in robes of white,
The blazing Son shall pierce the night.
And I will rise among the saints,
My gaze transfixed on Jesus' face.
