Healing Waters (flow over me)

This is a contemporary-style hymn of petition for healing and holiness, which uses the image of flowing waters as a metaphor for God's mercy.

It was written by American Roman Catholic contemporary Catholic musician, composer, and recording-studio proprietor, Trevor Thomson (b. 1971), and first published in the USA in 2000, by OCP's at-the-time Spirit in Song division.

It is set to an unnamed tune, also by Thomson. This has a 4/4 time signature. In the key of F, the first few notes of the melody are A G G F_ D F G A_  with accompanying chords  F / Bb / F.

Chorus:
Healing waters, flow over me.
Mercy’s water renewing me.
Mercy’s ocean, transforming me.
Healing water, renew me.

1. Renew my heart, O God, come change my hardened heart ...

2. Wash me in waters of love, cleanse me and purify me ...

KEEP IN CASE ORIGINAL IS REMOVED, BUT DO NOT DISPLAY Chorus:
Healing waters, flow over me.
Mercy’s water renewing me.
Mercy’s ocean, transforming me.
Healing water, renew me.

1. Renew my heart, O God,
come change my hardened heart,
come fill my hardened heart with mercy.
You are the water of life,
you are the breath of heaven.
Come fill my hardened heart with mercy, Lord.

2. Wash me in waters of love,
cleanse me and purify me,
for only you can cleanse me Lord.
Wash over me, O Lord,
refresh my thirsty soul,
for you alone can make me holy, Lord.
