Come to the Water (O Let All Who Thirst)

This is a hymn of invitation to Jesus, the living water.  The words are based on on Isaiah 55:1-2.

It was written by American Roman Catholic priest , liturgist, composer and member of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) John Foley SJ (b 1939), and first published in 1978 by New Dawn Music.  It was included on Foley's first solo album, Wood Hath Hope.

The song is set to an unnamed tune, also by Foley. This has a 2/2 time signature. In the key of F, the first few notes of the melody are C F A_ F D D_

Lyrics

The lyrics are copyright so cannot be reproduced here. But they are currently available on this website. A rough outline is:
1. O let all who thirst, let them come to the water.
And let all who have nothing,
let them come to the Lord:
without money, without price.
Why should you pay the price, except for the Lord?

2. And let all who seek, let them come to the water.
And let all who have nothing,
let them come to the Lord:
without money, without strife.
Why should you spend your life, except for the Lord?

3. And let all who toil, let them come to the water.
And let all who are weary,
let them come to the Lord:
all who labour, without rest.
How can your soul find rest, except for the Lord?

4. And let all the poor, let them come to the water.
Bring the ones who are laden,
bring them all to the Lord:
bring the children, without might.
Easy the load and light: come to the Lord
