The Whole World is Waiting for Love (Come Down Lord Jesus)

This Advent hymn was written by Sr Marianne Misetich SNJM, and first published in 1977.   It is likely to have been written for children - but can be used in all-age settings as well.

The un-named tune was originally set in the key of Eb, and has a 3/4 time signature.

Hymn books it has been published in include the Australian As One Voice, and OCP's Breaking Bread series. Sheet music is today available from OCP.

Small group with adult and child singers, keyboard backing

Children's choir, with piano accompaniment

The words are copyright - you can find them here. There are three verses, each two lines long, with a four line chorus between  them. A rough outline is:

1   We’re waiting for Jesus like Mary ...

Chorus:   Come down, Lord Jesus ...

2   We’re laying a manger for Mary ...

3   We’re making it lovely for Mary ...
