Christ be with Me

It was translated into English by Church of Ireland minister's wife, poet and hymn-writer Cecil Frances Alexander, née Humphreys (1818-1895).

With meter of 88 88, the tunes it has been set to include:
  • GARTAN - possibly a traditional Irish melody, composer unknown
  • PACHEBEL - by Johann Pachelbel

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.

Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all who love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.
