Fill my Cup Lord

This gospel hymn is based on the story of the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4:5-42).

It was written in 1959 by American Methodist minister and author Richard Blanchard (1925-2004), and first published in 1964, by Word Music, LLC.  It has since appeared in a wide range of church hymnals.

The refrain is sometimes used a stand-alone worship song, as well as with the full hymn.

With meter 11.8.9.10 with refrain it is set to a tune written by Blanchard which is simply called FILL MY CUP.   This has a common time signature. In the key of Bb, the first few notes are FF FD DD D_ FG FC_ with accompanying chords Bb / Cm.

Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more–
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole!

2 There are millions in this world who are craving ..

3 So, my brother, if the things this world gave you

1 Like the woman at the well I was seeking For things that could not satisfy: And then I heard my Savior speaking: ” Draw from my well that never shall run dry”. Chorus: Fill my cup Lord, I lift it up, Lord! Come and quench this thirsting of my soul; Bread of heaven, Feed me till I want no more– Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole! 2 There are millions in this world who are craving The pleasures earthly things afford; But none can match the wondrous treasure That I find in Jesus Christ my Lord. 3 So, my brother, if the things this world gave you Leave hungers that won’t pass away, My blessed Lord will come and save you, If you kneel to Him and humbly pray:
