Sing to God a Song of Glory

This hymn giving glory to God was written by English Roman Catholic teacher and liturgical musician Francesca Leftley (b 1955).

It was first published in Songs of the Spirit - Songs and Hymns of the Renewal, 1978 Kevin Mayhew Ltd, and has since been included in Complete Anglican Hymns Old and New (2000) and Anglican Hymns Old and New Revised (2008).

With meter 8.7.8.7.8.7, tunes it is set to include:
  • REGENT SQUARE by Henry Thomas Smart (1813-1879)
  • An unnamed tune by Leftley - this has a 4/4 time signature. In the key of G, the first few notes are GG G_ G A F G D, with accompanying chords G / C / D / G /

Glory to our God on high. 2 Sing to Christ, the Father's loved one, Jesus, Lord and Lamb of God; hear our prayer, O Lord, have mercy, You who bear the sin of men. 3 Sing to Christ, the Lord and Saviour, Seated there at God's right hand: hear our prayer, O Lord, have mercy, you alone the Holy One. 4 Glory sing to God the Father, glory to his only Son, glory to the Holy Spirit, glory to the three in one.
