Lyrics

A farmer went out to sow, he didn't have far to go,
Some seed from his sack fell onto the track,
It had no chance to grow.
The birds when they saw the seed,
came down and had a good feed.

Chorus:
But the man who was sowing
just kept right on going.
Do you hear? Do you hear?
The man who was sowing
just kept right on going.
If you've got ears, use 'em!

There was soil that was very thin,
it covered the rock like a skin,
The seed grew fast,
but didn't last, the roots just couldn't get in.
So when the sun was high,
it shrivelled up to die.

And in the field that was sown,
there was ground that was overgrown.
A few of the seeds fell into the weeds,
with thorns and thistles and stones.
And choked by so many shoots,
it never produced any fruits.

But all the soil between
was tilled and deep and clean,
And there the seed grew ripe indeed,
The best you've ever seen.
The harvest brought wealth untold,
from sixty to hundred fold.
