It was written in the 1960s while she was working as a teacher in Singapore, and first recorded on an EP, Rhythm to the Lord, which was released there by Phillips in 1966. Later the song was included on Sing a Song to the Lord, an LP (ref), which was recorded and released by Phillips in Australia in 1973.
It is now used as a prayer-song in a number of schools in the Indian sub-continent.
The catalogue of the National Library of Australia says that a 27-page song book was produced in the 1970s, which presumably included this and all other tracks from Sing to the Lord. No current sources of this have been found.
A person from Angalore has transcribed the tune and shared their work on Musescore: this shows this tune as having a 4/4 time signature: In the key of Em (moving to G in the chorus), starting notes are D EE_ GF_ ED EE_ GF_ with accompanying chords Em / D / Em / D.

Lyrics
1 The heavens are blue,Proclaiming to You,
The glory of God their creator.
At sunset or night,
They're a beautiful sight,
Yes they show forth the Glory of God.
Chorus:
Author of beauty, God on high,
It is for You that I sigh,
As long as I live, my love I shall give
To You Lord my God most high.
As long as I live, my love I shall give
To You Lord my God most high.
And all my days
I will sing to Your praise
I adore you my God most high.
2 The surging of seas,
The wind in the trees,
Breathe a music of God in nature.
In songs of a bird,
Nature's music is heard,
Yes they sing forth the glory of God.
