Sing a Song to the Lord

This hymn about God's goodness was written by Australia Roman Catholic (Franciscan Missionary of Mary) religious sister, Irene O'Connor FMM (ref).   It was originally released under the name Myriam Frances.

It was written in the 1960s while she was teaching young children in Singapore, and later included as the title track on an LP (ref), which was recorded and released by Phillips in Australia in 1973.

The catalogue of the National Library of Australia says that a 27-page song book was produced in the 1970s, which presumably included all the tracks from Sing to the Lord.   No current sources of this have been found.

Lyrics

Chorus:
Sing a song to the Lord, for he is good.
Sing a song to the Lord, for he is good, he is good.

1  He made the sun set bright,
The moon and stars at night,
O thank him for the gift of light.

2  He made the land and sea
Each flower, every tree
His love made them for you and me.

3  This is the gift that lasts,
Surpassing all the rest,
He loves and sees his children blest.
