The Boat on Galilee

This children's action song was written by American Adventist music teacher Barbara Maude Knox-Albertsworth (1892-).   It is based on the story of Jesus calming the storm in the Sea of Galilee.

It was first published in 1915.  This publication date means that the words and the tune are now in the public domain in the USA, at least. (Status in most other countries depends on the date of Knox-Albertsworth's death, which has not yet been located.)

It was published in the 1951 edition of Sabbath Songs for Tiny Tots (ref), which appears to be available on Amazon, at least sometimes.

Lyrics

1   When Jesus lived on the earth long ago, and taught the people here.
He went in a boat on the blue Galilee with His disciples there.
Rock, rock, rock, little boat on the sparkling sea. Rock, rock, rock, dear Jesus rides in thee.
Rock, rock, rock, o're the waters swiftly flee. For Jesus lies in the little boat on blue Galilee.

2  He had toiled that day doing good to all.   Was tired as he could be:
So he went to sleep in the little boat on beautiful Galilee.
Rock, rock, rock, little boat on the sparkling sea. Softly rock, dear Jesus sleeps in thee.
Rock, rock, rock, o're the waters softly flee. For Jesus sleeps in the little boat on blue Galilee.

3   Then the clouds grew dark and the winds blew strong the waves rolled o're the sea.
The disciples feared in that little boat on stormy Galilee.
Rock, rock, rock, little boat on the stormy sea.  Rock, rock, rock dear Jesus rides in thee.
Rock, rock, rock, o're the waters swiftly flee. For Jesus rides in the little boat on stormy Galilee.

4  When Jesus woke and spoke to the storm, He said to the waves "be still".
The sky grew bright and the winds grew calm, the waves obeyed His will.
Rock, rock, rock, little boat on the sparkling sea, Rock, rock, rock, dear Jesus rides in thee.
Rock, rock, rock, o're the waters swiftly flee. For Jesus rides in the little boat on blue Galilee.
