This is a hymn book for children aged 5-11 years, published by A&C Black Publishers, London England.
It focuses on musical education and participation, and many of the songs / arrangements are simple, reflecting this. It includes 59 songs, all in the English language, and has sections (with hymn numbers as show) for:

- Shout for joy 4-7
- This is a lovely world 8-13
- Giving thanks 14 - 16

The book was first published in 1970 with reprints / revisions in 1973, 74,76,76, 79,82,84, 87,92 and 96.
There are two editions (words only and music - the latter has piano scores and guitar chords, and many songs have parts for recorder, chimes, glockenspiel or percussion. At some point a CD of backing tracks was added to the music edition.
A table of guitar chords was added in the 1982 edition, along with advice about how to substitute more common chords if necessary.
Illustrations were added in the 1984 edition, and the design (font, layout, binding) is remarkably similar the design of Songs of God's Love - A Hymnal for Primary Children published in the USA in 1984 by Concordia Publishing House with substantial input from the Missouri Synod of the Lutheran Church.
The original editing was done by Beatrice Harrop, with assistance from Pat Lloyd (Deputy Head of Great Staunton Primary School, Huntington) and Peggy Blakely, with advice from Mary Collins, Sarah Evans and Ian Wragg.
The cover artwork has varied between editions: in the 1996 reprint, the cover artwork is credited to C R Evans in the acknowledgements page, and to Maggie Silver on the back page.
The ISBN of the 1996 music edition is 0-7136-1730-6. This edition only has one index, according to first-lines.
The music edition is presented in a landscape, ringbound format.
