This translated was made by Canadian Roman Catholic priest, organist and liturgist Stephen Sommerville (1931-2015), and first published in 1970.
With meter 12.14.12.12, it is set to a tune that some have called LES PETITES SOUERS - composer not stated: Possibly this is a traditional French tune, or a composition by another unnamed member of the Les Petites Soeurs de Jésus.
The original title was "Lord Jesus of You I will Sing as I Journey", and this was published in the Canadian Catholic Book of Worship. Slight adaptations were made later, resulting in "/ Lord, Jesus, You Shall Be My Song as I Journey" which is a more flowing English-language text.
The song was included in
Songs of the Spirit Volume 3
(Kevin Mayhew Ltd, England, 1987). It is popular with some Faith and Light / L'Arche groups.
The tune has a 3/4 time signature. In the key of D, the first few notes of the melody are F F_ GF E_ FE D_ B,A, D_D with accompanying chords D / Em / Bm / G / D.

Adapted words:
Lord Jesus, of you I will sing as I journey,I'll tell all my neighbours about you wherever I go,
You alone give us life, give us peace, give us love,
Lord Jesus, of you I will sing as I journey.
Lord Jesus I'll praise you as long as I journey,
May all of my joy be a faithful reflection of you,
May the earth and the sea and the sky join my song,
Lord Jesus I'll praise you as long as I journey.
As long as I live, Jesus, make me your servant,
to carry your cross and to share all your burdens and tears,
for you save us by giving your body and blood,
As long as I live, Jesus, make me your servant.
I fear in the dark and the doubt of my journey,
but courage will come with the sound of your steps by my side,
And with all of the people you saved by your love,
We'll sing to the dawn at the end of our journey.
