If God is for Us (who can be against)

This hymn is a statement of faith and trust in God's care for individual people and the church. It is based on Romans 8.

The song was written by American Roman Catholic priest , liturgist, composer and member of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) John Foley SJ (b 1939), and first released by New Dawn Music in the Neither Silver Nor God collection in 1975.

It is set to an unnamed tune, also by Foley.  This has a 4/4 time signature. In the key of F, the first few notes of the melody are C A_ A BAG BB A GA with accompanying chords F / Gm / C / F.

Chorus:
If God is for us, who can be against,
If the spirit of God has set us free?
If God is for us, who can be against,
If the spirit of God has set us free.

1. I know that nothing in this world ...

2.  Nothing can take us from this love ..

3.  And nothing present or to come ...

4.  I know that neither death nor life ...

KEEP IN CASE ORIGINAL IS REMOVED, BUT DO NOT DISPLAY Chorus:
If God is for us, who can be against,
If the spirit of God has set us free?
If God is for us, who can be against,

Can ever take us from this love.

2.  Nothing can take us from this love,
Poured out in Jesus, the Lord.
