It was composed by American Roman Catholic folk-musician and composer, Joe Zsigray (1953-2014), and first published by North American Liturgy Resources in 1979. Later it was included in the Glory and Praise collections.
It is set to an unnamed tune by Zsigray. This has a 3/4 time signature.
In the key of G, the first few notes of the melody are B ABA G_ E D DD E G AGF
G_A_ with accompanying chords G / D / Em / D / C / D / G /
D. Sheet music is still available from OCP (link below).
Each verse has a different melody, so the song is often used a responsorial
psalm with a cantor doing the verses.
