It was written by French Roman Catholic Spiritan (Holy Ghost) priest and composer Lucien Deiss CSSp (1921-2007) in the 1960s. It did not become widely used in the 1960/70s. But recent YouTube videos show a resurgence of use among English-speaking churches, especially in Africa and Asia, in the 21st century.
Hymn books were it was published include:
- Peoples Mass Book (Complete Daily Missal Ed.), World Library of Sacred Music, Cincinnati, USA in 1964.
- We Celebrate with Song,J. S. Paluch Co., Chicago, USA, in 1976
Both of these books are long-since out of print, and no further published versions have been found.
The hymn is set to an unnamed tune, also by Deiss. This has a 4/4 time signature. In the key of G, the first few notes of the melody are G B AB d d_ | E E d B A A_

Lyrics
Chorus:
Behold among men the dwelling place of God;
They shall be His people,
and He shall be their Lord and God.
1. People called by God through the word of prophets.
People brought together in the house of the Lord.
People who attend to their Lord,
The church of Christ the Lord.
2. Temple built by saints, by the martyrs and apostles.
Holy temple built-upon Christ the cornerstone.
Holy dwelling place of our God.
The church of Christ the Lord.
3. People who are born in the waters of the Spirit.
People who are marked by the seal of the Spirit.
People in the Spirit made one,
The church of Christ, the Lord.
4.People who are crafted in Jesus the vine
Branches bearing fruit in the grace of the Lord
Branches rooted in His great love,
The church of Christ, the Lord.
5. People nourished now by the body of the Lord
People who sit down to the new pascal super.
Who shall pass from death into life,
The church of Christ, the Lord.
6. People justified by the grace of the spirit
People who are heirs of an everlasting life
People now enlightened by Christ,
The church of Christ, the Lord.
7. People called in faith to be quickened by his light
People called by God from the darkness into light
Holy people called to be royal,
The church of Christ, the Lord.
8. People whom the Lord has acquired for His praise;
People who put trust in the Lord Jesus Christ;
People called by God for His own;
The church of Christ, the Lord.
9. People who proclaim the great glory of the Father
By the Lord Jesus Christ, his only son;
and in the spirit praise
the church of Christ the Lord.
